PSTOIC annual dinner - 10th January 2026
Bring something historical
After extensive negotiations, logistical recalibrations, and one or two moments where The Management briefly lost the will to live, they elected to return to last year’s establishment of culinary adequacy: Wildwood Covent Garden, as the possible Piccadilly alternative (Smoky Boys) was only accepting walk-ins and it was felt best not to risk it. A pre-dinner sharpener kicked things off again at Bow Street Tavern. There was an excellent turn out this year with 16 attending and some new faces.
Historical entries for this year's theme included:
- Alan - Rare Hi-fidelity Elcaset audio tape
- Alex - Old coin collection
- Andy - Old capacitor and resistors
- Helen & Jan - Nokia 5110 mobile phone
- Kevin - "OB Unit 3" Photos, Cursed audio samples player (*banned)
- Martin - Granite stones from Old London Bridge (now relocated to Arizona)
- Matt - Neo Cyclostyle Duplicating Apparatus
- Olivier - Late Soviet-era lapel pins
- Rex - MP3 player (Rickroll warning), Casio Blood Pressure Monitor watch, Motorola phone
- Rob - Windows for Workgroups 3.11 floppy disks, VGA-Planets game floppy disk
- Ronjoy - Solar Trump (possibly hysterical not historical?)
- Yazan - Model of Prague's oldest running astronomical clock
After a quite significant amount of discussion and praise for this year's historical submissions, Hugh announced this year's winners:
- 3rd Place
Alex's old coin collection - 2nd Place
Olivier's lapel pins - 1st Place
Matt's duplicating apparatus

Interpretation is flexible, but The Management reserves the right to confiscate anything that:
- emits smoke
- hums ominously
- or is still legally classified as “evidence”
The Management will accept:
- artefacts
- replicas
- dubious antiques purchased from motorway service stations
- or anything that looks old if squinted at aggressively.
The Management will not accept:
- cursed objects
- live archaeologists
- or anything that hums in Latin.
